Get Walls Mural Project

A citywide mural project designed to bring vibrancy and culture to previously uninspiring spaces while elevating the profiles of local emerging artists alongside internationally known street artists.

  • Norwich, with its rich history and many listed buildings, posed a challenge for public street art to flourish compared to other more modern cities. However, there were several large, empty, and unattractive walls around the city that were begging for a creative makeover. My friend Frazer and I saw an opportunity to change this, aiming to inject life into these dull spaces while showcasing local artistic talent.

  • As co-founder and creative director of the Get Walls project, I was responsible for conceptualising the project, identifying potential mural sites, and collaborating with the city council to gain permission and funding. I worked closely with Frazer to curate a mix of emerging local artists and internationally recognized street artists, helping to raise the profile of Norwich’s art scene.

  • We scouted Norwich for walls that had the potential to be transformed into public canvases and shot photos of the spaces. We pitched our concept to the Norwich City Council, securing both permission and funding to bring these murals to life. The aim was not only to brighten up dull areas but also to create a platform for local artists to exhibit their work alongside internationally established street artists.

  • While the project was unexpectedly halted when others took over some of our proposed walls, the success of the initial murals highlighted the positive impact of public art in Norwich and showcased the power of collaboration between local and international artists.
